Tennis: Enjoy tennis on any of the five courts for day and night playing.
Golf: At the resort itself is Pitch-and-putt golf (4 holes) and miniature golf (18 holes). There is also a 9-hole golf course located in Puerto Aventuras 4 km (2.5 mi) from the resort. There are other excellent courses in the Cancun and Playacar areas. The well-designed courses, the great weather, and spectacular surroundings make golfing a must during your vacation!
Pools: There are two large free-form pools in the resort complex, one on each of the resort's sides, the Beach and the Caribe, including shallow children's sections in the pools. The Beach activities pool includes a swim-up bar, and jetted sections featuring a fountain. There are plenty of complimentary lounge chairs, sun umbrellas, shady palapas, and towels are provided all throughout the pool areas.
Water Sports: Enjoy aquaerobics, sailing, windsurfing, snorkeling, kayaking, water polo, pool volleyball, pool aerobics, water basketball, water cycles, and paddleboats. Independent operators offer personal watercraft, ATV tours, and beach horseback riding. Motorized water sports, such as wave runners, water skiing, and others and any scuba diving and snorkeling excursions offered by an independent operator are not included in all-inclusive rates.
Other Land Sports: Ping-pong, Bocce, horseshoes, beach soccer, beach volleyball, basketball, darts, and giant outdoor chess.
Spa and Fitness: There are SPA and massage services, steam room and sauna, and a fitness center. The fitness center consists of cardio machines, weight machines, and free weights, all under a series of palapas. The Spa consists of a 10-person spa tub and a massage room.
Kids Club Miki Maya: Open to all children, ages 4 to 12, in open-air, thatched-roof palapa and on the playground. Free of charge, with games, books, movies, a kitchen, and video games. There are also babysitting services available in evenings (reservations required).
Beach: This resort is on a calm and safe beach, offering a long stretch of soft white Caribbean sand. Cushioned chairs, palapas, hammocks, palm trees, and umbrellas dot the beach so you will have a comfortable place to relax and seek some shade. Enjoy sunbathing, strolling along the beach, beach volleyball, or a good snooze under the umbrella as the gentle ocean breeze and calm waves provide a relaxing rhythm.
Fishing: Go to Playa del Carmen, take the Cozumel ferry, and take a fishing trip to Cozumel Island, which boasts some of the best fishing anywhere - several fishing excursions are available. Different tours depending on what you want to catch. Many excursions include fishing equipment, tackle, bait, snacks, refreshments, and pick up and drop off.

Shopping: Guests of the Barceló Maya can shop at the in-resort gift shops and boutiques for various and sundry items. Additionally, Playa del Carmen is a great place to shop! Quintana Avenida (5th Avenue) is the main shopping street, open exclusively to pedestrians. There are beautiful art galleries featuring works from artists throughout Mexico, handcrafts from all over the country, including jewelry, silver, furniture, clothing, shoes, and much, much more.
Exploration and Site seeing: The Mayan ruins and exploration opportunities and site seeing venues in this area are many and offer vacationers several options: Xcaret with its underground rivers, diving, snorkeling, and coral reefs; the natural aquariums at Xel-Ha; the ancient Mayan port of Tulum containing as much mystery as it does curious buildings; the Sain Ka'an Biosphere Reserve; the villages and cities of Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, and Cancun farther to the north. And this just scratches the surface of things you can see and do.
Diving and Snorkeling: One of the great things about this resort is that there is a coral garden just a few meters from the shore, where snorkelers have a natural dock and can step off into some superb snorkeling practically on the beach! The waters in this region have superb visibility, and the seafloor is full of colorful coral and many species of marine life. Major scuba diving sites include Isla Mujeres, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Punta Allen, Banco Chinchorro, Akumal, Puerto Morelos, and Paamual. The main snorkeling sites are Xel-Ha, Cozumel, and X-Caret. Every level of expertise can be enjoyed and challenged with such a diversity of dive sites and snorkeling locations. From shallow patch reefs, large brain coral, sea fans and sponges, to big grouper, playful green moray eels, eagle rays and turtles, to perhaps even giant orange elephant ear sponges, black coral, large schools of fish, turtles, rays, and even hammerhead sharks...you're in for an adventure.
Entertainment: A variety of shows is performed nightly in a beautiful, split-level Mayan-style amphitheatre. There is even disco and karaoke. Both? Hmmm…well, if you can’t dance like John Travolta maybe you can sing like Donna Summer? Whatever you attempt, disco and karaoke are going to make for one fun evening! The nightlife in other parts of Playacar is alive as well, with everything from discos, bars and nightclubs, theme parties, live music of just about every genre, movie theaters, and much more. For your more subdued moments, plan to do some stargazing and watch the sunsets and sunrises.
Other Activities: There's always something going on at the Barceló Maya! Participate in activities and games such as Spanish lessons, dance lessons, board games, billiards, ceramics painting (surcharge) and more.
